I believe that most of my dates (incl the birth and marriage date) originally come from your rootsweb posting (TJ Rand). The approx birthdate for John Edmunds is supported by census data (1850 census, Chichester, NH). It has been my assumption that the marriage date is incorrect as I have not found any direct evidence supporting it. That being said, it is also highly unlikely that Phebe is the mother of William H. given she would have been in her mid-50s! Since the census data does not list families prior to 1850, it is unlikely this discrepancy will be easily resolved. At least as of 1850, John and Phebe are raising William H per census data.
As far as Elsa Edmunds and Samuel Rand, there were many Rand families living in the area around 1800, so I can't find anything conclusive on him or his parents. The same census restrictions as mentioned above exist in regards to Elsa, so I have not found any information related to an Elsa marrying a Samuel Rand. Sorry I can't be of more help, records are scarce that far back...
