Who is the John Edmondson mentioned in the records below? How is he related to John Barner or the Greshams?

Can anyone tell me anything about the following transactions. Who was this John Barner? Who was John Edmondson? What relationship did they have with James Laffoon(Lafoon). This James Laffoon was the son of Matthew Laffoon Sr. and his wife Mary (___?)of Brunswick/Lunenburg Co., VA. He had bought this land on Townfork from Mack Ship. He later moved to Fayette Co., KY after selling this land to John Barner. Later court record in Madison Co., KY indicates that James Laffoon had some kind of right to part of John Barner's part of the estate of John Edmundson of Dinwoodie Co., Va. Can anyone help?

"Know all men by these presents that JAMES LAFFOON of Madison County and State of Kentucky do by these presents constitute and appoint EVAN FRANCIS of the county of Jssamine and State aforesaid my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name to act and do all things that may be necessary proper and lawful in demanding receiving setling(sic) adjusting by bringing Suit or otherwise for the part of JOHN EDMUNDSONS estate willed to JOHN BARNER and of which the said BARNER was to have possession at the death of MARTHA EDMUNDSON Widow of said JOHN EDMUNDSON deceased Situate lying and being in the County of DINWOODIE in the State of Virginia hereby ratifying and confirmining whatever my said Attorney may lawfully do in the premises aforesaid. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and my Seal this Eleventh day of December in the year of Our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and five ---1805

Is this the same JOHN BARNER JR who married MARTHA ("Patty") GRESHAM, daughter of JOHN GRESHAM of Brunswick Co., VA? Is there any connection between these GRESHAMS and the AMBROSE GRESHAM who is listed in the household of JOHNEDMUNDSON on the 1782-4 tax list of Dinwoodie Co., VA.? A deed in Halifax Co., VA reveals the following:
