Boanerges (a bibical name, son of thunder), EDMONDSON, son of John F. and Rebecca EDMONDSON of St. Louis, MO. Boanerges EDMONDSON served in the Indian Territory (Oklahoma) under Gen. Stand WATIE, CSA, returned home and died in St. Louis, MO, in 1866. He enlisted in July 1861 as a private and was later appointed acting Sgt Mjr. He served with his brother Charles Edward EDMONDSON, Brigade Capt of Ordnance, b. 1835, Ohio; location unknown after 1870 St. Louis, MO census.

Boanerges was misspelled on the 1850, 1860 U.S. censuses and on the CSA military records. Only in his notice of death in the MO Rep. in 1866 was his name spelled correctly.

I desc. from Edwin Fair EDMONDSON, b. 1848, St. Louis, MO, d. 1911, Waco, Texas, bur De Leon, Texas.
