Thank you so much for posting this. I've been researching a family story about my great-great grandmother's brother, John Chandler McHone. The story goes that John married a woman in Yazoo county, Mississippi named E. F. Edmondson. The story continues that sometime before 1874 (probably '72 or '73)E. F. died in childbirth. John, who was a freighter, was riding with the baby girl in his saddle, taking her home to his parents to raise. A woman from a wagon train offered to keep the baby warm for the night, but in the morning that wagon was gone from the train. The story goes that John continue to freight back and forth trying to find the baby, but never did. He remarried in 1874 For me, this started the mystery of trying to figure out who E. F. Edmondson was. We know that a J. H. Chandler was a witness to John Chandler McHone and E. F. Edmondson's marriage license. Because of this post, I was able to see that J. H. Chandler married Union Edmondson on the same day that John McHone and E. F. Edmondson married. I believe that Union and E. F. were sisters, and further research shows that Union had a sister named Emily. I'm not sure if John Chandler McHone and John H. Chandler are related in some way, but McHone's middle name being the same as Chandler's last name makes me think there might be a connection. By the way, it appears that John McHone was the witness for John Chandler and Union Edmondson. Thanks again for posting. Notify Administrator about this message?
