I took a quick look at the Halifax County Virginia data. I do not think Edmund Edmundson's son was James H. Edmundson, but just James Edmondson. A man named James H. Edmondson married Permelia A. Willard in Halifax in 1833. He or another man of that name married Martha A. Borum in 1853. I think this man moved over into an adjacent county in NC. Greene County? The marriage record spells the name Edmondson, though one can't put much meaning in that.
