I am interested in Edith Edmondson Lane, the widow of John Lane. You mention that she moved to Houston Co, GA by 1837. Her husband had died about 1820 and she was living in GA with her 2 youngest sons. Do you have more information as to when and where she and John Lane married? I can't seem to find her in the 1840 census as head of household in Houston Co, GA.
In the 1850 census of Henderson, Houston, GA I find a John Lane (b. in NC in 1815) and wife Charlotta .... (b. in GA in 1815) with their 6 children b. from 1834 to 1850, all in GA. Do you have any suggestions how I might determine if there is an connection between these 2 families?
