The lineage of the Elizabeth Brown who married Robert Coleman Edmondson is as follows: 1 Francis Brown "I" (died 1691/1692 in Essex Co., VA) and Elizabeth (maybe Elizabeth Cole) 2 Daniel Brown and Jane Copeland 3 Henry Brown "I" (died about 1733/1734 in Essex Co., VA) and Keziah Jones. 4 Henry Brown "II" and Elizabeth (maybe Elizabeth Croxton) 5 Elizabeth Brown and Robert Coleman Edmundson. Note: An "early" Robert Coleman married an "early" Elizabeth Grizzell, and their son Robert Coleman married Ann Spilsby....hence, the use of the given name of "Spilsby" in this Edmondson family. In addition, the above Brown family had another Daniel Brown who married an Elizabeth Coleman from that same Coleman family, as shown below: 1 Francis Brown "I" (died 1691/1682 in Essex Co., VA) and Elizabeth (maybe Elizabeth Cole) 2 Francis Brown "II" (died 1708/1709 in Essex Co., VA) and Elizabeth Allen 3 Daniel Brown (died about 1747 in Culpeper Co., VA) and Elizabeth Coleman (a daughter of Robert Coleman and Ann Spilsby; as such, there were some Coleman Browns, as well as a Grizzell Brown, in this "Brown line") There was a John Smith in Essex Co., VA who married Mary Dunn. Mary was a daughter of a John Dunn and Judith Edmundson. Do you know who Judith's parents were? It appears to me that John Smith was dead by 1810, and I SUSPECT that the Mary Smith who was shown as the head of her household on the 1810 Essex Co., VA census was Mrs. Mary (Dunn) Smith. It is POSSIBLE that this was my mother's "direct Smith line" (and even if this was not her "direct line," this was almost certainly part of the same overall Smith family as my mother's Smith family, based on some other research).
