Steven, It may be that Margaret Lyles's mother was a Dinkin. I seems that Margaret's grandau. (of Thos. Jerald Edmondson) who was named Margaret Elizabeth Ann "Dink" Edmondson (Bundy), was given the nickname perhaps because of her father's maternal grandmother's line. "Dink" is a common nickname for a person whose name was "Dinkins." Mary and Geo. Wash. "Wash" Lyles reared their family in Richland County, SC where he is found on the 1820 census. He disappears from the censuses beyond this point. If you will go to the Lyles genforum, you can see my posts where I am documenting my research. There is also an Elizabeth Dinkins in Richland Co., SC in 1810 or 1820. I am thinking that perhaps the Dinkins line descends from Larkin Dinkins or Samuel Dinkins. Have not pursued that research to either prove or disprove it. I still believe that the Whisenants are in the Thomas Jerald's lineage somewhere. His brother is named Nicholas and Thos. Jerald names one of his sons Christopher Columbus. The Whisenants have a John Nicholas and Christopher Columbus father and son. The time period is about right, and in SC. There is a wonderful Whisenant site that is so well organized that it makes your mouth water! If you run across anything else that might shed some light on Margaret's maternal line, please don't forget to post it to this forum. I am so grateful for your generosity in posting your research.
