I don't have anything past Joseph. There is a story that has been past down from family to family.

Josephs' father was fighting against the British during the American Revolutionary War or the War of 1812. He was captured and imprisoned in England for 7 years. When he was released, he learned that his wife and 7 sons were in the US. He found his family along the Monogahela River. She was remarried to a WHITTON, thinking that he was dead. He took the oldest, Joseph, and possibly another child with him and started a new life.

My 2nd Gr. Uncle Joseph Edmison died in Feb 1863, during the Civil War at Gloucester Point, VA. His family was living in Clarion Co., at that time.
