Can anyone help me identify David Edmonds, born about 1820 in NC, died in Carroll Co, VA abt 1879?
He is shown on the 1860 Carroll Census at age 40 along with wife Martha, age 29 and children, Columbus, Lucinda, Nancy, Henry J., Mary A. and Lewis. (am not sure Lewis and Mary are the children of Martha)
Next door is living Elizabeth Edmonds, age 43 along with children Amanda, Martha, Davis, Elizabeth, John and Sarah.
What is confusing is that several of the marriage records of Elizabeth state their parents as "David and Elizabeth."
Is this a former wife, a girlfriend or.... ? Any help would be appreciated.
