LEBANON, VA Roger L. Edmonds, 68, died Friday, Feb. 29,
2008, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Born July 31, 1939, in Dickenson County, a son of the late
Emmett L. Edmonds and the late Helen Louise Castle
Edmonds, Roger was a retired employee of Clinchfield Coal
Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a
member of the Lebanon VFW Post 9864, where he served as
vice commander and member of the honor guard. He was a
member of the Cedar Creek Baptist in Lebanon, Lebanon
Masonic Lodge 251 AF & AM, the Scottish Rite, Jericho
Shrine Temple and the Counts Chapter of the Order of
Eastern Star, where he was past patron.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Donna Mills
Edmonds; one daughter, Nerisa Long and her husband Todd,
Abingdon, VA; two sons, Brian Edmonds and his wife Debbie,
Kingsport, TN, and Brett Edmonds and his wife Lynda,
Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Miccah Bartley, Larra Beth
Edmonds, Casey Edmonds, Emily Bartley, Logan Edmonds,
Nathiel Edmonds and Ashley Long; one sister, Vickie Lewis
and her husband Jay, Lebanon, VA; two brothers, Bob
Edmonds and his wife Pauline, Kinsale, VA, and Charles
Edmonds and his wife Susan, Cleveland; one niece; and
several nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday,
March 4, 2008, in the Green Valley Baptist Church, with
the Rev. Jim Fuller, the Rev. Tom Edwards and the Rev.
Chad Johnson officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted
at 7:45 p.m. by the Lebanon Masonic Lodge 251 prior to the
service. The committal service and burial, with military
honors by the Lebanon VFW Post 9864, will be conducted at
11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008, in the Ketron Memorial
Gardens. Those attending should meet at the church by
10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Edmonds, Jay Lewis,
Tony Skeen, Jackie Gilbert, Garland Farmer, Randall
Herndon and Tommy Tignor. Members of the Lebanon Masonic
Lodge 251 AF & AM will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m.
Tuesday, March 4, 2008, prior to the service at the church.
