Edmiston Family Genealogy Forum

Phyllis,
I have been working for some time on locating the origin of my wife's grandfather, Frank Edmiston. I'm not even sure that the Frank you mention has any connection, but some things are curious. My Frank married Edna Lumley (Lummy in the record)in Paragould, Arkansas in 1917, but she died a few years later. Frank then married Tinnie Lumley, Edna's younger sister. From that marriage, at least six children were born including Martha, my wife's mother. I had talked several times with Tinnie about geneology and the Edmiston line. According to her, Frank was born in 1897 in Illinois. Although she did not know the exact circumstances, she said that he had been orphaned and wound up in Arkansas. Frank and Tinnie settled near Hickory Ridge in Cross County, Arkansas. Although the 1930 census lists Frank as having been born in Arkansas, Grannie insisted that he was indeed born in Illinois. Frank was a rice farmer in Cross County. He was killed by lightening in 1931 while working on a rice levy. I didn't look up the date, but from memory,I believe it's right. All of Frank's children are deceased except two. Frank's son Frank lives here in Paragould and a daughter Marie lives in Oklahoma. We know nothing of Frank's family line but would like to know know more. I hope there is some connection here. Please feel free to write.
