Glad to see this Edmison Forum! My ancestor John Edmison immigrated to Canada first in 1818 from Berwick-on-Tweed, England. He settled in what is now Peterborough, Ontario. There is a subdivision of that city named after the family: Edmison Heights. His son John Edmison stayed on the family farm, his grandson John Hall Edmison was a Presbyterian minister and one of the founders of the United Church of Canada. His great-grandson (my father) J. Alex Edmison (1903-1980) was a lawyer, prison reformer and member of the National Parole Board of Canada.
