Alva was for him (Thomas Alva Edison) a given middle name not a surname. The thing that bothers me about your claim is that you are saying that Thomas Alva Edison was not really an Edison. My foster father was named after the inventor as well as his first cousin thrice removed. And the inventor was born in Milan, Ohio.
