FYI: Edison death in 1888 Indian Territory
This might help someone.
From July 1888 "Hesperian" published in Gainesville, Cooke Co., OK:
A gentleman in the city Monday from Wilson Creek, Indian Territory, brought news of the death of A. B. Edison, a famer living near Washita. Edison was cleaning out a well for John Howell which had damp in it and was let down until he came into contact with the deadly gas when he asked to be drawn up, but when he had been drawn up, he was overcome by the effects of the damp and fell to the bottom and when taken out was dead.
