Thomas Alva Edison (the inventor) was born in Milan, Ohio (america not mexico) in February 11, 1847. His middle name being Alva does not by itself make him a mexican. It is as much a given name as his first name was. I have not seen anything about the identity of his maternal grandmother. She could have been mexican. I am not bothered by the idea of the inventor having mexican ancestry. What i object to is the insistence that he wasn't really an Edison.
