Memories of family reunions as a child at Verona beach on Oneida Lake, skipping school as a kid to go see grandma and granpa who ran the humain socity pound on gennesee st. in Utica, campouts on Limekiln and Herkimer lake with uncle Bob ( Dads good brother) teaching me why the church steaple pops outta the water just below the dam. Wishing my dad (Norman Ernest Edick) was as inclined as uncle Walt who had the only garage for miles and was a darn good mechanc and cousion Walt turned out to be. And never knowing just how much he taught me buy lettin me watch as I was able to do my first brake job and bearing and race job solo at 14YO. Always woudering why I never go to met this Aunt dad told us about on Utica ave in Utica NY and always wouldering who she was. and remebering my favorite ones Aunt Ruth and Elain Bruce and Aunt Bloodwin who suffred so much from cancer in her last years and wishing I hada listed to my uncle Joe Bagnall more the most respectul and loving man Ive ever knowen in my life. Along with wishing Marylou Wrobel had of relised my first cigrettee at the school bus stop on main street in Whitesburo was done to try and impress her who at the age of 48 I still have a crush on.
These are just a few of the memories I cling to when life was fun and there was family around every corner and if ya buggred up in the neiborhood someone ya didnt even know would corral ya and take ya home where ya got even more much needed learning. When Family and community was what life was about.
My mom and dad got divorced and she married a man who turned out to be a good man and took such care of her Ive growne to love him very much (Fred Mazurowski), My only regreat is that she cut off all ties with the Edick side of my familiy and much of hers and all that I had knowen and loved in them young years was lost, but not forgotten.
Memories :)
Oh and PS Cousion Hal if you read this just to let ya know; I remember our conversation on the hill top while we were riding our bikes and talking about what we wanted to be when we grew up. Gratz bud you stuck to it. Aunt Flo did a great job of raizing ya :)
