I am trying to trace my ancestor, Joseph Edge, back to Georgia. Family records handed down indicate that he was born 4 Aug 1812 and was "of Georgia". Sometimes his surname is spelled: Age. He reportedly had a mother named Elizabeth. He joined the Mormon church and went to settle in Utah sometime between 1847 and 1856. In the 1860 Utah Census he gives his state of birth as Penn. He was killed by Indians in a massacre near St. Joseph (I believe Missouri) while working as a freighter. I have not been able to verify his death. If you have a Mrs. Elizabeth Edge or a Joseph Edge in the Soperton, GA cemetery I'd be interested in hearing back from you.
