Frankie, the royalty I think you are referring to is Edgar AEtheling, the Saxon heir to the English crown, who with his followers, had been driven out of England after the coming of the Normans in 1066 and had taken refuge in Scotland. Edgar succeeded as king in 1098 when Norman French displaced the Gaelic at Court. Edgar's mother was Agatha and his father was Prince Aedward. He had a two sisters, Christian and Margaret, who married Malcolm Canmore. He desolated the borderlands of England and Scotland, claiming in the name of Edgar the right of rule over all Cumbria and part of Northumbria, this all ended in Malcolm doing homage to the English king for the territories of Lothian and Cumbria. Malcom and his second son Edward were killed by Robert de Moubray while besieging the castle of Alnwick in Northumberland. Malcom's surviving children were Ethelred, Edmund, Edgar, Alexander, David Matildis, or Maud (who around 1100 became the wife of Henry I of England) and Mary, who married Eustace, Count of Boulogne. in 1097, Edgar AEtheling raised an English army and marched into Scotland, dethroning Donald and placing Edgar, the son of Malcolm, in his stead. He was coronated the first king of Scotland at Bath in 1100. King Edgar of Scotland died in 1106 and was succeeded as king by his brother Alexander I. their younger brother, David was given possession of that part of the kingdom called Cumberland. Alexander married Sibilla, natural daughter of Henry and reigned until his death in 1124.I think I have all the dates correct. I hope you can get some use out of this stuff. I have about an 8 page document that I got from somewhere a while back. If you like, I'll mail the whole thing to you it's really some pretty interesting reading. Joe
