Frankie, I can't make a connection to your John Thomas Edgar b. 1803 in Georgia. My line goes to John Edgar b. 1758 near Trenton, NJ and married to Elizabeth Cummins in Rowan Cty, NC.
I took the liberty of searching thru my records on John Thomas Edgar b. 1803 in Georgia and I found the following information. This data came from Broderbund software and elsewhere. John Thomas Edgar b. Aug. 10, 1803 in Georgia married Mary Ann (Polly) Holloway on Aug. 26, 1827 in Walton Co. GA. He died on May 10, 1891 in Coffee County, Ga. Mary Ann died on Dec. 11, 1868 in Coffee Cty. She was born near Alba, AL or GA.
The names of known children are:
James b. 1/12/1838
Clarissa Jane b. 1840 d. 1911 Kelsey, Upsur Cty., TX
Martha Ann b. 8/10/1849 - d. 4/28/1943
Greenberry b. 11/3/1851 Dale Cty. AL
d. 2/8/1934 Leaksville, Greene Cty, MS
I also was able to locate another record which listed Matilda as a daughter of John Thomas. She married an Eli Jackson who died in Ohio as a confederate prisoner of war in 1864.
As to the parents of John Thomas Edgar, I cannot be of help except to say that the record I did locate listed the d.o.b. of John Thomas' father as 1777 but did not list a given name. I think you are correct about your John Thomas not being related to "John b. 1758". The latter John had 12 children the first of which was born in1781.
