My GG Grandfather's name was also Robert Edgar. The dates are nearly the same as what I have which may or may not be significant. My Robert is reported to have left his family in Scotland and travelled to the US. He may have brought a son, George Thomas with him. At any rate, George Thomas was my G Grandfather and wasn't from Robert's marriage to (Unknown) Hewett after he arrived here. Do you have any more information on Robert? He reportedly left from Northumberland which is close to Dumfries.
