Hi Cath,

I am part of the Edgar DNA group and I have been doing a bit of browsing for your Samuel and Rebecca Edgar/McCloy. I note a death for Samuel in Sydney on 18th August, 1890 and death duties paid on 3/12/1890. There is probably a will but do not have access at this time.
Samuel and Rebecca appear to have come into Victoria as an unassisted emigrant on the ship Orient in 1885.
Rebecca is listed as dying in 1920 in Owen Sound, Canada but only father's name, William is given no mother.
I looked at the Griffith's Valuations for Ireland and came across one Samuel Edgar listed at Upper New Row, Coleraine, Londonderry. There are 4 William M'cloys in Londonderry, you need to search under McLoy to get them to come up.
Do you have the marriage certificate for Samuel and Rebecca this would give you the occupation of the father's which would help eliminate James or William. Griffith's have a James Edgar living in Wapping Lane, Templemore, South Ward, Londonderry.

Hope this helps
Robin in Adelaide Australia
