It's difficult to explain about the DNA project in a few words so I suggest you contactJames Edgar at the following address:[email protected], Steve Edgar of Crewe, England, and Richard Edgar of Ireland got the program going and James can give you the real "skinny" on this. What you can find out is which line of Edgars you belong to (or came from), Celtic Edgars, those of eastern Europe, Saxon Edgars, or Greek Edgars.Sounds a bit mysterious, but what I'm hoping is that it can lead me to a general location of where my Edgars originated and ultimately a migration route.I'm not explaining this adequately I realize, but by all means contact James and learn more.As it turns out I have a distant relationship to Richard Edgar of Ireland in that we are of the Celtic tribe. This and any other relationship may lead to some positive ientification. One reason it's difficult for me to explain is that I don't know how well you are informed on DNA, population migrations, etc.Incidentally Steve Edgar has postings on the Edgar Forum which you might find interesting. The DNA test must be made by a male Edgar since the Y chromosome carries the information being tested.I had a male first cousin who supplied the DNA sample for my family. The cost is $195 and the laboratory gives you an extensive explanation of the results, etc.
I would be interested to know if you pursue this, and, as a matter of fact, something of your Edgars, where they came from, etc.
