Hello Gary

Yes, this is the right family, but i have researched them back to the 1600's in this area (Canonbie, Dumphrieshire - the 'Debateable Land' as it was known). I have used the Old Parish Records through the website of 'Scotlands People' and received copies of the baptism and marriage certificates of the male lineage and confirmation of Monumental Inscriptions. I have all Census reports back to 1841, both Scotland and England. I have also found the website with the 'Edgar Society Newletter' of Australia and have connected this family through them. Between both, I have been able to document everyone of our male lineage to the 1600's but Robert Edgar (and his brother, Joseph). Robert Edgar born in circa 1840 in Dumphriesshire (and his brother) are not registered in any parish (so far), yet this is 'the male' that i need to prove back through the lineage. I have communicated with a researcher in Scotland, and she said that quite often during these times, they either did not register the child due to cost, or it may of been one of the 'wee free' churches that sprang up and records are no longer available. Quite interesting that for over 250 years that they all came from around the same area.
