This is a courtesy posting from info that I found in American Migrations 1765-1799. I have no further info on this individual at this time.
"Edgar, James of Savannah. Memorials London 1777 and 1779. From 1773 to 1776 he was Collector of Customs for Savannah. Early in 1775 he was attacked by rebels in the middle of the night and his clothes torn off him before he was tarred and feathered. He escaped to HMS Hinchinbrook and helped rescue several ships from the rebels in Savannah before being wounded by a musket ball through the right shoulder. He joined HMS Cherokee until she was paid off in 1777. He now (1779) wishes to return to GA."
