I have also traced back accurately to the 1841 Scotland Census for this Robert Edgar (shown as one year old on the 1841 Scotland Census and born in Canonbie,Dumphriesshire, Scotland), however, I cannot find a birth certificate for him. I have even tried the "Edgar Society Newsletter" infor written in 1939-45 and thought that I had matched up to a portion of their families (last page - father: Robert Edgar b: 1796, married to a Mary ?), but still no birth registry found in the Old Parish Records of Scotland for either Robert or his brother, Joseph Edgar. Yet, every Scotland Census up to 1851 shows the family - then Robert and Joseph Edgar are shown to be in Northumberland as boarders. I know that a few people are also searching for this family - can someone help with information on a birth or baptism registry for these two? I need to connect the parents to them - I think the father, Robert Edgar was born in Rowanburnfoot, Canonbie, Dumfriesshire, Scotland in 1796.
