from her husband's biography --

A twentieth century history of Mercer County, Pennsylvania ... , pg 921,

Mr. [Jessie] Smith married in 1854, Mary Coryea, who was born in Shenango township, Mercer County, the place of birth of her father, Henry Coryea. Henry Coryea was of German ancestry, and the son of one of the earlier settlers of Shenango township. In his early life, he was a contractor on the Erie Canal, and later worked as a stone mason. Subsequently locating permanently on a farm in Springfield township, he was here engaged in tilling the soil the remainder of his days. His wife, Rebecca Cannon, was born in the same township, a daughter of Moses Cannon, a pioneer farmer of that place, who subsequently moved to a farm in Lake township, near Stoneboro, and there spent his declining years.

Mrs. Smith died May 9, 1904, leaving nine children, namely: John, Charles, Sarah. Elmer, Emma, Laura, Alice, Effie, and Harry. John married Roselma Dorey and they have two children. Lawrence and Clifford. Charles married Ella Ross, and into their home three children have made their advent, Harold. Dewey and Flora. Sarah, wife of Daniel Uber, has one son, Edward. Emma is the wife of John Offutt, and has two children, Elizabeth and Gladys. Laura married Samuel Williams, and has three children, Mary, Dewitt, and Margaret. Alice is the wife of Walter Hunter. Effie married Samuel Oakes, and they have one child, Alice. Mrs. Smith was a most estimable woman, highly regarded throughout the community, and was a consistent member of the Presbyterian church at Leesburg.

So, is Henry the daughter of Sarah (Edeburn) Coryea? What was her husband's name?

I ask, because I've been looking at the Edeburn family of Mercer County, PA, as I have recently found that my 4th great grandmother is probably one of Jacob Edeburn's daughters, Mary, married to Robert Aikins about 1787 in SE PA.

I have also found a daughter, named Sarah, who was married to a Coryea. In a petition in Mercer County Orphan's Court, dated possibly 1 Feb 1811, or perhaps just the court's Feb Term 1811, regarding the land of Jacob Edeburn, deceased, I find listed among Jocob's heirs "... the heirs of Sarah Coryea another of the said eleven equal parts ..." This list also includes a Robert "Atkins" and Mary with "another of the said eleven equal parts"

Edeburn, Edaburn, Edenburn, and Edburn must all be related -- one can find all these spellings in the same courthouse records, and/or engraved on headstones for the same family members in the same cemetery.

Thank you,
