I am sorry but I have no other information on John Ede, Carpenter of Croydon, however he would have been born sometime in the mid 1700's in Cuckfield, Sussex, which is where his father and mother appear to have lived.

I have just looked up the family and it would appear that John and Mary Ede's parents both lived in Cuckfield, Sussex, their father having been christened there and their mother having been Christened in Slaughterham, Sussex and buried in Cuckfield.

I know John was a Carpenter in Croydon, Surrey as his sister Mary Mitchell, (nee Ede) mentions him in her will.

I would suggest that you look at the 'national archives' site as you may be able to find a will that you can download.

Kind regards,

Shane Coulson
