EDDYs buried in Morrison Cemetery, Fabius Twp., St. Joseph Co., MI
Posted by: Linda Wilbur (ID *****3643) Date: February 08, 2007 at 09:30:36
  of 1952

The old Morrison Pioneer Cemetery is located in Fabius Township, St. Joseph Co., MI. Because the locations of some burials are not marked and there are no longer any existing records, the cemetery was closed to burials in the early 1950s. Nonetheless, this old burying ground is still kept in flawless condition by its sexton, Gerald Johnson. The annotations were made by the poster.

199. ELIZA A./ WIFE OF G. V. PEAK/ DIED/ May 21, 1852/ AE 17 Y'rs 4 M's/ & 7 D's
Eliza Ann's maiden name was EDDY. She was probably a daughter of Jasper EDDY and his first wife, Polly PINE. She married General VanRensselaer PEAK (not a general...it's his full name) in a double ceremony in St. Joseph Co. before Justice of the Peace Josiah Farrar on 7 July, 1849 with Eliza Jane EDDY, daughter of Eli and Lydia (LANE) EDDY of Porter Twp., Cass Co., MI, and William B. EDDY, was Eliza Ann's probable brother. Eliza A. Eddy and Eliza Jane Eddy were then approximately 14-1/2 and 16 years of age, respectively. Fortunately, the marriage record still exists in one of the earliest libers held by the St. Joseph Co. clerk's office in Centreville. Unfortunately, whoever recorded the event got the two Elizas mixed up on the record.

Almary LAYMON on Oct. 20, 1863 in Kingsbury, LaPorte Co., Indiana before George Reynolds, Justice of the Peace. They had one daughter, Minnie Estella EDDY, born 2 October, 1864. Minnie married a man named HILDEBRIDLE and lived in the Flint, MI area for many years. It is not known whether or not she ever had children.

251. WB/ EDDY/ FEB. 18, 1828/ FEB. 27, 1910/ EDDY
NOTE: According to Cass Co. death records, William B. EDDY was a resident of Penn Township, Cass Co., MI at the time of his death. His death certificate correctly lists his father as Jasper EDDY, but incorrectly cites his mother as a "Miss Price." (His mother was Polly PINE, Jasper's first wife.) William B. was born in Michigan… probably in Washtenaw Co., where the family first settled and where Jasper is listed in the 1830 Federal Census for that county.

252. JASPER E. EDDY/ 1857 - 1938
NOTE: Youngest son of William B. and Eliza Jane (Eddy) Eddy. Jasper came to a violent end on 22 October, 1938 (at the age of 81-1/2 years) when he was struck by a speeding auto just south of Moorepark, MI while on his way to his nephew, Eddy Weatherwax's, home. It appears that Jasper was married twice, but he had no known children.

NOTE: Mervin Franklin EDDY was the eldest child of William B. Eddy and his first wife, Eliza Jane EDDY. See William and Eliza Eddy family in 1860 Federal Census for Fabius Township, St. Joseph Co.
