If you are still posting are interested in information you may have on the Eddies -- primarily that relating to Scotland.

We are descended from Jane Eddie (daughter of William Eddie and Elizabeth McDonald) who married Robert Landels Coulthard. I have a narrative written by someone who was descended from Jane (and Robert) as well as Jane's brother John Eddie and his wife Jane Seaton; it primarily describes life in the mid to late 1800s -- e.g., her grandparents John and Jane's immigration from Canada to Iowa (via an extended stay in Minnesota) and then her parents life in Iowa. There is very little about your William. However, I think he is mentioned in these paragraphs:

"Now I will relate the life of Jane Eddies family (Jane was my grandmother) as they go along with the Coulthard Clan.

"The Eddie family also Presbyterian, were born in Inverness Shire in the Highlands of Scotland. The family lived near Nairne, on River Nairne. The father, mother, and children, Alex, Wm, Janet, Jane, John, James and Susan came to Ontario and settled in Middlesex County, Eckford [?illegible] Township near the little town of Aspin, not far from Glencoe and London.

"The Eddie family came to Ontario shortly after the battle of Waterloo in Europe, in which Napoleon was defeated by the Duke of Wellington. John Eddie, my grandfather, was about 14 years old when they emmigrated to Ontario, Canada from Scotland. He had been a Shepard boy on the estate of a Lord in Scotland before he came to Canada."
