Hello, I'm still looking for information on my grand-dad Rubi Highland Eckman.He was supposedly born in Mo in oct.of 1881 according to his military records. He enlisted in 1907 at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. He was discharged in 1910 at Fort Yellowstone ,Wy. On his records, it lists as next of kin a brother known as J. Eckman that lived in St. James,Missouri.Rubi married my grandma Hattie Emma Markley on 1 Jan. 1911 in Rolla, Missouri. They had 3 children the first, a daughter ,died in infantcy. My mom,Gladys eckman was born 4 mar. 1913 I was told in jacksonville, Illinois although I have not been able to find a record of it.They then had a Son Austin Highland Eckman born in Iowa 1917. My grandma told us they went to homestead in montana where Rubi built a house and all the furnature. She told us that he abandoned her and the kids in Montana. SHe later was sent by a brother of hers a newspaper clipping that he was killed in a accedent of some kind around 1920 or so. Any information would be great.
