Harry,
the Eckmans of Lancaster Co, Pa are not German, they are Swiss, they were driven out of Switzerland because of religious reasons, Ulrich Eckman the father of Hans Jacob
and Johann who came to America came from Romanshorn in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. they later settled near Heidelburg , Germany prior to coming to America on "William
and Sarah"
