Anna Barbara Slaymaker Eckman
According to the book "White Chimneys" Mathias Schleiermacher and Catherine Sciebell had 7 children, the first two, Lawrence and Margaret, born in Germany before emigration (before 1708), then four sons and (Anna)Barbara (in this book, born 1758,died 1831).
This would have the couple having children between at least 1706 until 1758. If their last child was Daniel (1740) that would also indicate an unusually long period of childbearing -- 32 years -- Catherine would have to be over 50. And there would be a gap of about 20 years between the first two and the third.
Lawrence's daughter (Anna)Barbara was orphaned and adopted by Mathias according to a penciled note I read somewhere. I've found very little about Lawrence, his daughter Barbara, his sister Barbara, or his sister Margaret, although I did read the "two daughters" were left L100 each by Mathias, and Daniel was made Barbara's guardian. I've also read sister Barbara was born in 1726, but that would make her considerably older than Daniel, unless that was Lawrence's Barbara he was given guardianship over.
Was Catherine a second wife? Was sister Barbara the second daughter and older than the second through fifth brothers? Or was there really only one (Anna) Barbara, the daughter of Lawrence, born when he was about 20 years old, and adopted by Mathias when she was orphaned?
