This is just conjecture, but, I think, worth pursuing.

The 1860 census, taken 6 August, shows Russell Beard, 30, wife Martha T., 32, son William R. C., 12, and daughter Martha M., 8. Wife Martha would have been born about 1828. (The marriage records show Martha M., as you indicated.)

Jabal Echols (born 1803, son of Darius) and Frances Davis were married 24 September 1826. A Goodspeed “history” says that Jabal and Frances had 12 children. I have found only 10, with the oldest being Alvin Dean, born 20 July 1829. Alvin’s birth was almost 3 years after the marriage and the subsequent 9 children were born regularly 1 or 2 years apart. It seems likely to me that there could have been a child born before Alvin in 1827 or 1828. Could this have been Martha? I can’t find any further information that would suggest either that she was or was not the child of Jabal and Frances.

If you do discover Martha’s parents, would you please post the information to this forum?
