I too have an Echols in Indianolia, IN. She was married to a M.C Cole. Her husband died and is buried here in TX, but Minnie Lee Cole (EChol) went to IN. She was living with her daughter Jean Laminack when she passed away. She was a little over 100. Minnie was born in Navarro Co. TX in 1889. Her father was Jeff B Echols and her mother was Annie L Mills. There family lived in Navarro till at least 1902. Her siblings were Mrytle, Genie, Willie, Elbert. Jeff was born in AL in 1864. His father was Benjamin Franklin Echols and mother unk. Benjamin was born in TN as per the 1900 census.
He moved his family to TX in 1872 as per his pension. Not sure if his wife came also. I beleive that Benjamin had at least 1 other son named Robert H Echols. Found him in VanZandt Co. TX in the 1900 census. Benjamin was living with him. And from there I don't know what happen to him.
I have spoke to Jean back in early 2001 and tried to get her to send me some information on her mother. To date she has not responded. I believe Minnie is buried in a cemetery in that town somewhere, but I have not been able to find it on the net as of yet.
Let me know if any of this is familiar.
Tell me a little more on your Echols.
Happy Hunting
Sandra
