Ihave some data on the Echols family primarily from the 1850 history of the family by Milner Echols and a continuation of that history by Echols descendants that moved to Eastland County Texas in the late 1880's.
My line of descent from the Echols family is as follows: John Echols/Mary Cave -> Richard Echols/Catherine Evans -> James Echols / Elizabeth Milner -> Milner Echols/ Susannah Sansom -> Thomas Echols/ Mary Harper -> Robert Harper Echols/ Mary Ann Morris ->
Joseph Enoch Echols / Frances Milinda Payne
-> Mary Florence Echols/ John Ernest Rasco.

Robert Harper Echols was born December 3, 1824 in Clark County Georgia. He died February 12, 1907 in Eastland County Texas. His first wife was Elizabeth Carolyn Morris born February 26, 1835, died August 30, 1852. They had one son, John Thomas Miller Echols, some times called Robert. He was born March 20, 1852 and was executed at Ft. Smith Arkansas January 14, 1887. He was married in Indian Terr. to Georgia L. Hulsy.
Robert Harper Echols second marriage to Mary Ann Morris May 19, 1853 in Dekalb County Ga. She was a sister of his first wife. They had eleven children: Joseph Enoch Echols, William Walter Echols, James Columbus Echols, Sanuel Sansom Echols, Lewis Clark Echols, Robert Nathan Echols, Benjamin Franklin Echols, Sarah Louisiana Echols, Charles Lane Echols, George Washington Echols, and Mary Jane Echols.
The family moved from Georgia to Sabastian County Arkansas after the War Between the States. Following the execution of John Thomas Echols, the family moved to Eastland County Texas.
I have additional information and will exchange data with descendants of this family or other Echols family researchers.

James R. Rasco or 2000 Alejo del Sur, Harvey, La. 70058-2901.
