My Grandfather was the 2nd or 3rd W.J. Echols of Ft. Smith. I was named after his brother Mont Echols. From what I understand, the first W.J. Echols(the one you refer to from Missippi) had a general store in Ft. Smith. The store eventually became a Bank.
