Do you have any idea as to the origin of the name CHAMPNESS? I've seen queries on other boards about Champness Echols. The 1850 Milner Echols history says the following: John Echols -> Richard Echols -> Moses Echols Then, that Moses married Betsy Ferry, and that they had a son named Champness Ferry Echols, who lived in the western district of Tennessee and was a Baptist preacher. Could there be a Champness Ferry AND a Champness Terry???
