Thanks so muchfor the reply and the information. There was an Obadiah Echols who died in Oglethorpe co Ga in I beleive 1799 or 1800. Notice the difference in spelling. I found entres on the internet that said Joseph Echols was appointed the guardian for two of his minor chilren. I do not know who the father of this Joseph Echols was but probably Richard Echols since most of the Echols who were in Wikes co and Oglethorpe co Ga in the 1790's descende from ichard Echols. Your research is exellent so if yo say it was a different Obadiah or Obediah Echols then I know it is correct. ane married Solomon Ray in 1796 in Wilke co Ga as you know. I am going to try and find more info about the Obadiah Echols that died i Oglethorpe co Ga in 1799 or 1800. Since he was young enough to have had two minor children when he died maybe Jane washis daughter and since she had married in 1796 she would mot have been listed in the entry about guardianship. She was born about 1779 so she would have een about twenty or twenty one when Obadiah Echols died and was already married. he reason I contacted you is Isa an entry concerning the Obadiah Echols tat died in Oglethorpe co Ga and it was by another researcher but they had either included your comments or you had posted information. Anyway, you had mentioned how confusing the info about this Obadiah Echols was. Solomon Ray lived in Wilkes co Ga vey close to the Oglethorpe co Ga line soI will research this Obadiah Echols to see if he might have had a daughter named Jane or since Solomon and Jane had a daughter named Nancy maybe her name was Nancy Jane. Jane was born about 1779 but I don't know where. I do have two qwuestions you might be able to help me with.
There was an Edward Eckles who lived in Wilkes co Ga in the 1790's. I have done some research on this Edward Eckles. He was the son of Thomas Eckles who was born in 1743 in Va and died in 1802 I believe in Va or at least that is wher his will was probated. Edward Eckles died in 1829 in Wilkes co Ga. a researcher had posted that Thomas Eckles was the ather of Edward Eckles and Jane Eckles who had married Solomon Ray in 1796 in Wilkes co Ga. I contacted her to see where she ad found that info and she said she had listed Jane because it was the right time frame. I wish researcers would not do that. She had no proof that Jane was Thomas Eckle's daughte or the sister of Edwar Eckles. I spent a lot of time researching Edward Eckles and his father Thomas Eckles and then she emailed me saying she more or less just guessed at the possibility that Jane was Thomas Eckle's daughter. My question is who was Thomas Eckles. Was he from the John Echlos and Mary Cave line or was he from a competely different line? I can not find much info about him.
I kinow sometimes people named their children and their parents and grand parents. Solomon and Jane had children William,John,Elijah,Silas,Ransm,Solomon Jr and Nancy Ray. There were five Echols living in Oglethorpe co Ga in the 1800. Joseph Echols had alsready died so he was not listed. Tere was an Elijah,John and three James Echols. I know the John Echols listed was the son of Richard echols and that John Echlls was married to Lucy Annah Moore. I thought for sure they were the parents of Jane sincethe time period was the same and the location whre they lived was close to Solomon and Jane and they named one of their sons Jon and Solomon died in 1813 in Jaspe co Ga and John and Lucy Annah were living in Jasper co Ga where she died i 1816 but when I found John's will from 1826 in Madison co Alabama he did not list a aughter named Jane in his will.
It is hard to believe that I can not find who Jane's parents were since the Echlls family has been so well researched. Maybe if the Edwar Eckles living in Wilkes co Ga was not related to the other Echols living in Wilkes co and Oglethorpe co Ga in the 1790's thenmaybe she was related tothe Eckles line.
