ECHOLS, SUNDAY Funeral services were held at Franklin Methodist Church Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Sallie Lane Echols, widow of the late W.R. Echols. She died Friday at Newnan where she had gone for treatment. Mrs. Echols was reared at Franklin and had lived all of her 71 years in Heard County. A large concourse of friends, many from a distance, attended the services at 2:30 conducated by Rev. J.C. Adams, at the church where she had been a member for many years, the alter and casket being surrounded by the season's loveliest flowers, symbolic of the good lady's sweet character. Mrs. Echols is survived by three sons and three daughters; Lane, Walter and John Echols of the homeplace at Glenloch; Mrs. Joe Wyatt, Marietta; Mrs. Glenn Scroggins, Newnan; Mrs. A.R. Williams, Glenloch; one brother, R.J. Lane, Franklin, and numbers of other near relatives. ________ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, December 5, 1947 LANE ECHOLS DIES MONDAY FOLLOWING STROKE SATURDAY Lane Echols, a life-long resident of this county, died Monday evening about seven o'clock in the Newnan Hospital. He had a stroke on Saturday night and was rushed to the Newnan Hospital. Mr. Echols was 57 years old. He was the son of the late Walter Ross Echols and Sallie Lane Echols. He was a member of the Franklin Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge of Centralhatchee. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Franklin Methodist Church with Rev. J.C. Adams conducting the service. His body was interred at the Franklin Cemetery. The Centralhatchee Lodge was in charge of the grave service. He is survived by three sisters, MRS ROSCOE WILLIAMS and Mrs. JOE WYATT both of Franklin, and Mrs. GLENN SCROGGINS of Newnan; two brothers, Walter R. and John Echols, both of Franklin.
