Yes, I just saw one of your posts on the internet recently and thought I needed to write. There was a John Echols 1650-1712- England to Caroline co. Va. Died in Lunenburg Co. who married to Mary Cave- 1688. Their children were John- b 1698-1750 NC, William b 1699-1771, Abraham, b 1700-1749- who married Sarah Tamar Abraham, Joseph b 1704-Richard b 1706-1778- married Catherine Evans, Eleanor b ?m who married Nicholas Gillingtine, Elizabeth b ? who married to William Murphy and Ann b ? who married George Marshbanks. Richard Echols and Catherine Evans went to Wilkes Co. Ga. and had children there- Moses, John, Drucilla, Benjamin, Obadiah, James, Mary, Joseph- who married into my Stamps Family there, Sally, Anna and Elizabeth. Records of Beaufort- about 4 families there - John Echols in 1750 Abstracts of Wills- listing John, James, Joses, Cobb, Ann, Mary and Elinor. No wife mentioned- but since one child is named Cobb, perhaps his wife was a Cobb? James Echols was in 1764 Tax list with wife Martha, George and William and 5 other children not named. Joses Jr. with William and Richard, 1792, and George Echols with wife, James and David in 1797- I meant to let you know that in Orange County NC 1790, where I have been doing Vicker research, there are some of the Ray family- I found Robert Ray, William Ray,Sr., John Ray, William Ray, Jr. in the Hillsborough District, St. Mary's District there is a James Ray, and a William Ray Sr. Simeon and Levi Echols are in the 1819 Lottery of Ga. and they are in the 1821 Lottery also- with Joel Echols and Edward Echols Sr. I have not found them in too many more places than that- It seems they migrated south along with connecting families into the southern states. Hope this helps you some and look into those in Tennessee-Lucy Notify Administrator about this message?
