Lance: This gives me a lot of food for thought. Thanks a lot. I think there is also the name of Achols in TN which I am sure must either be a variant or mispelling by the pollster. On the census of 1850 for Morgan County AL living with Garrett and Jane is his mother who is named as Ann age 60. Don't know if that is pertinent, but if some Echols has a wife named Ann that might help narrow the field. Thanks again and please keep me in mind. William Garrett Echols... Bjtaylor
