REGARDING ECHLIN CASTLE AS FAR AS I KNOW WE MARRIED INTO FAMILIES WHO OWNED CASTLES, ECHLINVILLE STILL SURVIVES THOUGH IT IS NOW CALLED RUBANE IT IS NEAR KIRCUBBIN, CO DOWN.THERE IS A TITLE IN THE FAMILY THE LAST OF HIS LINE IS SIR NORMAN WHO IS THE 10th BARONET HE LIVES IN ENGLAND. MY IRISH GRANDMOTHER WAS ROSANNA ECHLIN, HER SISTER CATHERINE MARRIED A CHARLES MICHAEL DEVANEY THEY EMIGRATED TO EDMONTON ALBERTA IN THE EARLY 1900s. I DONT KNOW ABOUT ANYONE BEING BURNT AT THE STAKE BUT WE DID HAVE A PIRATE ABOUT 1730 NO CHRISTIAN NAME. THE FIFTH BARONET FREDRICK HENRY WAS A GAMBLER HE IS DESCRIBED AS A PAUPER 1795-1871. THE SEVENTH BARONET SIR THOMAS WAS A POLICE OFFICER 1844-1906. MAYBE OF NO USE TO YOU BUT INTERESTING?
