Dear Tamra,
I've just finished "The Dark Fantastic", a 1947 novel by Margaret Echard. It is set in Indiana just after the Civil War, but she mentions Rockbridge County, Va as the place of her character's family origin. The book is semi-autobiographic, so I am wondering if there is a connection? Maybe this Margaret was named for your Margaret? She dedicates the book to her father--Christian Echard?
