Your Jacob Eberly was born in Strasburg,Va. 16 Jan. 1795, son of Jeremiah Eberly and wife Catherine (family name unknown).He married Leah Pitman 17 Oct. 1820 and died in Shenandoah Co. Va. 23 Feb. 1854.Leah Pitman was born near Mt. Olive, Shenandoah Co. Va. 10 Feb. 1800, daughter of Emanuel and Esther Funkhouser Pitman. She died 23 Apr. 1838 and and Jacob married second to Elizabeth Hockman, 11 Dec. 1838.
Emanuel Pitman was born near Strasburg, Va. 5 Feb. 1772, oldest son of Philip and Susannah Crabill Pitman, married Esther Funkhouser 6 June 1796 and died at Mt. Olive in Shenandoah Co. Va. 13 Apr. 1850.Esther was born 16 May 1777, daughter of Christian and Barbara Layman Funkhouser and died 12 Nov 1852.Emanuel and Esther had 16 children: four boys and 12 girls.Esther was one of 12 children of Christian Funkhouser, 3 boys and 9 girls.
Philip Pitman (Johann Philipp Bittmann) was born in Germany, 16 Nov. 1741, son of Andreas Bittmann, came to America in 1764 and died in Shenandoah Co. Va. in Feb 1820.
His wife, Susanna Crabill was a daughter of Christian Crabill of Strasburg-she died in 1821.Both buried in an old graveyard west of Strasburg.
