Hello! I have been researching the Staley family of Crawford County, Ohio for quite some time. I ran across this, and I can't help but wonder if this Elizabeth is a sister to my William Staley. "Elizabeth Stailey married Barnhart Eberhart, 1/1/1833 in Crawford Co., Ohio" Is this the Johan Barnhart you were referring to by chance?

My William is the son of John and Elizabeth Staley. The 1881 History of Crawford County, Ohio says this about my William: "WILLIAM STALEY. farmer; P. O. Galion; was born in Franklin Co., Penn.. Aug. 5, 1808, and is the son of John and Elizabeth Staley, who were also natives of Pennsylvania. They came to Crawford Co. in 1826, and settled in Whetstone Township where they lived for a number of years and then went to Michigan, where they died. The father died in 1861, and the mother in 1859..."

This Michigan link has puzzled me for quite some time until I ran across this today:

1850 Colon, St Joseph, MI
Barney Eberhard 42, born PA
Elizabeth 37, born PA
Elizabeth 14, born OH
John P., 12, MI

At least the Michigan thing makes a tad more sense now! I still have my doubts because Elizabeth, William's mother, is buried in Crawford County in the Whetstone cemetery, though I cannot find anything on John her husband.

I hope to hear from you soon!
