Apparently, all of the descendants of my Weakley Co Eaves ancestors either moved away, died off, or simply don't "do genealogy." But maybe someone will recognize the names and be able to shed more light on these two men. Below is what I know. The two earliest Eaves men I'm researching are Solomon and Thomas J. Eaves. Both are mentioned in Weakley Occupant Entry records. Both are in the 1830 and 1840 census records. Thomas J. is in tax records in Civil District 4 as late as 1845 and probably 1847 (but not Solomon). Both are on the 1831 and 1832 tax lists (more below)--but not 1828-1830. Both are listed as surveyors on an 1847 transaction. Neither is in the 1850 census, but Thomas J.'s apparent wife and children are. I'm presuming both men are dead by 1850. On the 1831 tax list, Solomon and Thomas J. are the only two Eaves listed. However, on the 1832 tax list, there are four Eaves men listed: Solomon, Thomas J., Robertson, and Bartlett. Thomas J.'s apparent son William David (David William) Eaves had a daughter by his first wife Elizabeth Hall. Her name was Louisa Janie Eaves; she married Joseph Walker Douglas in 1890 in Henry Co. Joseph and Louisa are my great-grandparents. Based on the tax lists and census records, Thomas J. was apparently born about 1810 (earlier than previously thought and there making it impossible for him to be the son of Solomon's son Patrick Eaves as previously thought). If anyone has a connection to any of the above or can add to the information I have, I would appreciate it. I have not been able to find a death or burial record of any kind for Solomon or Thomas J. I also do not know what the connection is between Solomon and Thomas J. Eaves and Robertson and Bartlett Eaves. I've never seen Robertson and Bartlett's names in Weakley before. Thanks.
