Eaton is a maternal great grandmother's surname for me, with reputed Cherokee ancestry, quite a few tribal applications (rejected due to lack of evidence) are recorded in one of the rolls, Dawes or Guion, maybe one of the others, can't recall.I've researched it a bit, the Cherokeeancestry relates to surname Sizemore.Area is Surry County, NC.Earliest Eaton ancestor in this line is Christopher Eaton, soldier of the revolution, took the name as a child. His actualbirth name was Christian Valentine, German speaking, brother John (Johann), parentage unknown.Christopher/Christian Valentine/Eaton was bound as an infant to Gray Bynum of Germanton, NC.
Don't know if this info is of any use to you, but it is an Eaton line with reputed Cherokee ancestry in the Carolinas, so it might be worth a look.
