Hi Kristan,
We, the Nova Scotia Eatons, hold a reunion every few years and although interest has diminished in recent times, we still hold them. The reunions in the '70's would have involved several hundred people and were held in Nova Scotia. If your memory of the reunion is from the East Coast of Canada, that is likely it.
To find out with more certainty, I ask that you visit my site and look for some familiar names, such as your grandparents or great-grandparents. If you make a connection, feel free to e-mail me directly.
Although we do not descend from the Mayflower, a full and rich history of our family is available there. We descend from John of Haverhill who arrived about 1639 as part of "The Great Migration".
If your memory is that the reunion was more into Central Canada (Ontario), there are Eaton's there who descend from John of Dedham, for whom there are a number of members here who are much more knowledgable than I.
Perhaps you could let us know who your earliest Eaton was and some information on the most recent Eaton in your line so that we can more accurately help identify your line and thus help you on your road to your family tree.
Good Hunting
