Sandra,
According to the Bible, God chose Abraham as the father of his people. One of Abraham's grandsons was Jacob, also known as Israel.Jacob had twelve sons who became the heads of the twelve tribes of Israel. Many years later the nation split into two nations known as Israel, the northern ten tribes, and Judah, the southern two tribes.Years later, the Assyrians conquered the northern kingdom and deported them to different areas.Althoughsome of these people remained in the land and others were mixed with the southern kingdom (who we today call Jews), the ten tribes are not directly identified again. Some people refer to them as the "lost tribes" of Israel. The tribe of Ephraim is one of these tribes.Unsubstantiated claims are that some of these tribes migrated to Great Britian. Therefore, some people claim to be descended from one of the lost tribes of Israel. There is no proof or even suggestive documentation of these claims.
